Jacob Fenton: Life
September 18 - October 31, 2026Jacob Fenton (b. 1999, Los Angeles, CA) is a Los Angeles-based painter who draws from the visual residue of the internet, Hollywood, popular culture, and the 24-hour news cycle. Isolating and reconfiguring images that have entered the collective consciousness, Fenton’s paintings move between the familiar and the uncanny. Figures, fragments of news, conspiracy, and online mythology are rendered through a language of distortion and ambiguity in which recognition is continually unsettled.
Fenton’s practice considers the circulation of images and the shifting relationship between visibility, memory, and belief. His work examines how images acquire meaning as they are reproduced, displaced, and recontextualized. Born and raised in Los Angeles, Fenton’s work is informed by the city’s entanglement of spectacle, aspiration, fiction, and reinvention. He received his BA from the UCLA School of Arts and Architecture in 2023. Recent solo exhibitions include Notable Figures, Josh Lilley, London (2026) and Usufruct, Carlye Packer, Los Angeles (2024). His work was presented at Frieze Los Angeles in 2026.
